I
play guitar on the songs Dirty Dreams and Hurricane Years.
I was sent a tape of the tracks in advance, so as a result
was able to record all of my parts in a few hours. The recording
was done at Bearsville Studios in New York. It was great to
work with Alice and also producer Peter Collins.
I had a blast playing on these tunes. I remember being slightly
disappointed though when I heard the final mix because my
guitar sound was a little thinner and brighter than I like.
When you guest on someone else's project though, the most
important thing is being part of their vision.
After playing on these tunes, I was asked to play in Alice's
band on the Operation Rock 'N Roll tour. I was really impressed
with how nice of a guy Alice is. For being such a legend,
you would almost expect him to not be such a down-to-earth
normal guy. This was a really fun tour. One thing that really
stands out in my mind is playing some great games of poker
on the tour bus. We did a bunch of shows throughout America,
but unfortunately I was unable to do the European leg of the
tour because I was going out to do the Meltdown tour.
One of the unluckiest things that ever happended to me was
that I left Alice's band two weeks before they appeared in
the first Wayne's World movie. I was told that the band would
be doing this Wayne's World thing but at that time, I really
didn't watch TV, and so I had no clue what Wayne's World even
was! HEY STOOPID!! HELLO! You could have been in a huge movie.
Duh! I have been told that bassist Greg Smith and I look alike,
and so the one cool thing is that some people actually thought
that Greg was me in the movie! I did appear in the Hey Stoopid
video, though
